    Charles D. Steingas, EA, MSPA, MAAA

    Charlie is the chief actuary and founding member of Cash Balance Actuaries, LLC. After working for over 10 years on all types of retirement plans, Charlie decided he could better serve his clients by offering them the most personal service at more reasonable prices. To do that, he founded Cash Balance Actuaries, LLC in 2009 and grew the company from just himself to a firm with 11 employees and over 400 clients.  Now he is able to offer cutting edge retirement plan designs and personal service to help clients truly understand and appreciate their plans.

    Charlie graduated from Drake University with degrees in Actuarial Science and Finance. Since then he has become an enrolled actuary as well as a member of the American Academy of Actuaries and the American Society of Pension Professionals and Actuaries.  He currently lives in Excelsior, MN with his wife and 4 kids, and enjoys playing, coaching, and watching basketball and baseball when he isn’t doing actuarial work. 

     

  • Paul J. Marszalek

    Paul J. Marszalek

    Paul joined Cash Balance Actuaries as Chief Operating Officer in January of 2012. Paul has over 20 years of experience as a retirement plan consultant. His ability to produce high quality, accurate work, combined with his great communication skills made him a perfect addition to the CBA team.

    Paul graduated from the University of Minnesota with a degree in Mathematics from the Institute of Technology.

  • Jennifer E. Steingas

    Jennifer E. Steingas

    Prior to joining Cash Balance Actuaries, Jenni worked preparing plan designs for small businesses who were considering increasing retirement contributions to get larger tax deductions. She's also worked as a Credit Risk Analyst and an actuarial Associate.

    Jenni graduated from the University of St. Thomas with a degree in Actuarial Science and has passed the first two actuarial exams.

  • Douglas L. Goelz, EA, MSPA, MAAA

    Douglas L. Goelz, EA, MSPA, MAAA

    Doug has over 20 years of experience in providing administrative and actuarial services to clients with defined benefit and defined contribution retirement plans. His experience includes preparing actuarial valuations, benefit calculation programming, and completing compliance and nondiscrimination testing of plan designs. He has worked on plans ranging in size from one participant to several thousand participants, but he gets the most satisfaction from working closely with small business owners.

    Doug graduated from the University of Pittsburgh with a degree in mathematics. He is an Enrolled Actuary under ERISA, member of the American Academy of Actuaries, and a member of the American Society of Pension Professionals and Actuaries. He was also a member of the Education and Examination Committee of the Society of Actuaries for Part 2, Segment B of the Enrolled Actuary Examination for the 2007-2009 examinations.

    James F. Feuerbach, EA, MSPA, QPA

    Jamie joined Cash Balance Actuaries in December 2012, and brings over fourteen years of actuarial consulting and administrative experience to the firm. He consults on and designs different types of qualified plans, with a special passion for creating optimal plan designs using a combination of defined benefit (including cash balance) and defined contribution plans to accomplish his client's savings objectives.

    Jamie graduated from SUNY - Geneseo with a degree in management (finance concentration). Since then, he has earned designations from the Joint Board for the Enrollment of Actuaries, and the American Society of Pension Professionals and Actuaries.

  • Cedric T. Rohwedder, ASA, EA, MAAA, MSPA

    Cedric T. Rohwedder, ASA, EA, MAAA, MSPA

    Cedric Rohwedder joins Cash Balance Actuaries with over 25 years of consulting and project management experience. As an actuarial consultant, he assists our clients on all aspects of design, implementation, and administration. He is an Associate of the Society of Actuaries, an Enrolled Actuary, and a member of the American Academy of Actuaries.

    Before joining Cash Balance Actuaries, Cedric was an actuarial consultant for several prominent benefit consulting and financial service firms located in Illinois and California. He also served as a contracted consulting actuary for several companies including Charles Schwab and The Clorox Company.

    He has consulted with sole proprietorships to Fortune 500 companies. With that experience and knowledge, Cedric will guide you through the process of developing a short- and long-term retirement benefit strategy that will allow him to design and implement an individually constructed retirement plan tailored to your specific needs.

    Cedric holds a Bachelor of Mathematics degree from the University of Minnesota and a Master’s Degree in Applied Mathematics from California State University.

    Bethany J. Telford, QKA, ERPA

    Beth joined Cash Balance actuaries in 2014 with 7 years of experience in the retirement plan industry.  Her experience includes working with defined contribution and defined benefit plans, plan design, and annual administration. 
     
    Beth graduated from Northern Kentucky University with a degree in Finance.  She also earned designations from the American Society of Pension Professionals and Actuaries, and the Internal Revenue Service. 
  • Kyle W. Crump

    Kyle W. Crump

    ‚ÄčKyle joined Cash Balance Actuaries as an Actuarial Associate in July of 2013. Kyle has more than 3 years of experience in defined benefit plans. Since entering the pension plan world, his primary focus has been on designing, administering, and consulting on both traditional defined benefit and cash balance pension plans.
     
    Kyle graduated from Freed-Hardeman University with a degree in Communications in 2006. He obtained his Masters of Actuarial Science from Middle Tennessee State University in 2011. He has currently passed two actuarial exams and one of the three Enrolled Actuary exams.

    Kevin J. Morris, EA, MSPA

    Kevin joined Cash Balance Actuaries as a reviewing Actuary in December of 2014. Kevin brings with him over 20 years of experience in cash balance and defined benefit plans specializing in the small plan market. He excels in the design and implementation of plans for small businesses looking to maximize their retirement savings and provide for their employees’ future.

    Kevin graduated from California Sate University at Fresno with a degree in Applied Mathematics.

    William R. Kersey, EA, MSPA

    Will joined Cash Balance Actuaries in February of 2015. Will has been in the retirement plan industry since 2007. His experience includes working with traditional defined benefit and cash balance plans of all sizes, their design, and ongoing annual administration. 

    Will graduated from Freed-Hardeman University with a degree in Mathematics. Will earned his Enrolled Actuary designation from the Internal Revenue Service in 2014.
  • Kimberly A. Corona, EA, MAAA, MSPA, FCA

    Kimberly A. Corona, EA, MAAA, MSPA, FCA

    Kim joined Cash Balance Actuaries at the beginning of April 2017.  She worked on her first cash balance design and valuation spreadsheet in 1999 as an actuarial assistant and since then has serviced all types of qualified retirement plans in the micro-size plan market.  Kim has developed her skills in marketing, plan design, advanced nondiscrimination testing, ongoing administration, and plan termination strategies with an emphasis on meeting each client’s individual goals at each stage.
     
    Kim has a B.S. in General Mathematics from Arizona State University, an Enrolled Actuary designation, and is a Member of both the American Society of Pension Professionals and Actuaries and the American Academy of Actuaries, and is a Fellow in the Conference of Consulting Actuaries.  She volunteers on various actuarial and retirement plan committees as time permits.  When not engaged in actuarial tasks, Kim enjoys finding places without cell phone reception to hike, read and spend time with family.
  • Timothy R. Leier, FSA, EA, MAAA

    Timothy R. Leier, FSA, EA, MAAA

    Tim has been "of counsel" for Cash Balance Actuaries since 2011.  He provides actuarial, financial, and human resources consulting services to clients on six continents (still working on Antarctica) ranging in size from individuals to large public and private enterprises.  Tim is proud to be a Fellow of the Society of Actuaries and an active professional volunteer as Chairperson of the Social Security Committee of the American Academy of Actuaries and member of the Pension Practice Council of the American Academy of Actuaries.  He is a published author of articles in numerous periodicals and papers for the Society of Actuaries and is a regular expert witness and professional speaker.  In addition to professional and pro-bono activities Tim is an active business entrepreneur serving as founder, Director, advisor, and consultant to numerous start-up businesses and ongoing enterprises.
     
    Tim graduated from St. Olaf College majoring in Economics and Mathematics where he was a four-year member of the St. Olaf College Orchestra. Tim lives with his wife and son in Saint Paul, MN and regularly travels to Washington DC and elsewhere. When Tim is not devouring the news of the day, or learning about the newest innovations, you can find him on a sailboat or canoe, or standing on skis – with his family when possible – enjoying the world.
